Vacation Bible School, commonly referred to as VBS is offered during the month of July for a period of five consecutive days. The location may change from year to year but the enthusiasm for sharing with the community children does not change or lessen. For five mornings the children, youth leaders and adult sharing faith stories, music, crafts, games and God’s grace.
The theme changes yearly yet remains connected throughout the program. Crafts are designed to enhance the theme; the music taught and shared continues to reinforce God’s love as it relates in the chosen theme. Each year a mission focus is selected and the children are asked for loose change to donate. The focus can be the SCPA, the purchase of supplies for someone going on a mission trip or to donate to a mission venture that is already underway. Games are led by the youth volunteers as a way of teaching sharing, good sportsmanship, and fair play.
For 2018 the location of VBS with be Erin United Church and McMillian Park. The dates are July 16 until July 20th. The overall theme of the event will be “Peace.” The program is Peace Lab and promises a week of learning, practicing and celebrating peace.
